Does the Bible, God’s Word teach predestination, election?

I have realized that this is a point that some Christians don’t agree on and never will. I realize it is hard to understand. Does Jesus not say “All that the Father has given me will come.”  I know my sheep and they know me. Many Bible verses reference this. Romans 8:28-30 for one. Yesterday we were speaking of (Cain) and Abel who had a second chance to follow God’s ways. He did reject and killed his brother. I think for most people predestination, election are hard to realize. I don’t mean that I know who is elect or not. I am just saying by God’s own words “He lets them go their own way if they do not come. In this aspect we must witness to all because we have no idea who will come and we are not the judge. We can however see if someone lives the Lord’s Way with a changed heart and fruits of the spirit.

I can say myself that there is no way I could have ever chose him. He chose me. I chose in the 80’s and it did not last. There was no long-term change as now. Please if any would like to weigh in on this one, please do.

  1. The reason this is hard is we don’t like to think of ourselves in terms that describe those who are so lost they have no power to chose or not chose good. We are that bad. The terms we don’t like are totally depraved, worthless, debased, morally corrupt through and through. We would rather think there is something good in us, something worth saving.

  2. Me again. 🙂 There is a reason why what I wrote above is important. If there was something good in us, the ability to chose good from bad, then salvation would be of works, rather than the grace and mercy of God’s sovereign choice. Our choosing salvation would make us better and more able than the next person and we would have worked our way into salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 and Titus 3:5 say salvation is by grace and mercy, not works.

    • hi there,….you had asked us to weigh in, right???? lol here i am!!! i hope yall are doing well this fine evening…..
as i sit here now there is a part of me which wishes that i only had a single thought about something. lol but,….my wheels don’t turn that way. and this is just fine with me.

i think about when i was a kid listening to adults converse,..not yet realizing that i was learning how to communicate. but their were those occasions where i might have wanted to join in or actually feel that there was something that i wanted to say, or to ask. upon tying to join in, i would (not always) be told,…that,…THE ADULTS WERE TALKING.

now,..why i said that??? there are many things in the bible (or any other book concerning learning and knowledge) that are very difficult to understand. some of these things we can feel are hard to understand because God has yet to reveal the meaning to us,..or worse,..He has, for some reason beyond us,..has chosen “not” to show us??? any one ever felt that way???

but,..many times,….the reality is simply this. if we “do not” totally know the true and contextual meaning of a “key word” in a question,…we will not see the “true” answer. simply because we “can not” see the answer intended. God was holding nothing back from us at all.

      in this case,…PREDESTINATION,…
      and,…ELECTION

it is sadly, too easy, as we are engulfed in learning,…that we forget the new believer’s (and or non believer’s) who come along after us. it is up to us who have the (biblical and Godly) knowledge to pass it along, or “back in time” so to speak, to the unlearned. if we “do not” absolutely know the definition of word,….then how can we share it with,…well,…anyone at all??????

      more in a sec
